The Strategic Plan is a short and smart document. It is an aspirational plan that outlines the Secretariat’s strategy in line with the values and principles enshrined in the Commonwealth Charter. It is aligned with global goals and conventions, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Change Agenda, which were agreed within the past four years. It also includes mandates from the last two Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings (CHOGMs), including an emphasis on good governance, anti-corruption, empowering women and girls and protecting them against violence and harmful practices. The new Plan continues our commitment to the development and resilience of small and other vulnerable states, which comprise the majority of the Commonwealth’s membership.
