The Banque de France’s international symposium devoted to the topic “Regulation in the face of global imbalances” was held in Paris on 4 March 2011. Taking this general topic as their starting point, the speakers and participants addressed the lessons that can be learnt from the crisis in the areas of the international monetary and financial system and economic and financial coordination. These topics, as was underlined by Christian Noyer in his introduction, also form part of the agenda of France’s G20 presidency.
