THE FINANCIAL CRISIS AND THE STRENGTHENING OF GLOBAL POLICY COOPERATION

This article examines the international monetary system in the run-up to the global fi nancial crisis and the extent to which global macroeconomic and fi nancial surveillance is being reformed as a result of the lessons learned. It focuses on the efforts being made to improve the surveillance of the system, to refi ne crisis prevention and resolution mechanisms, to increase the system’s strength and resilience more broadly and to enhance global policy cooperation.
