Ratings for the Economic Governance and Poverty Credit Project for Ghana of were as follows : outcome was moderately satisfactory, risk to development outcome was high, Bank performance was moderately satisfactory, and Borrower performance was also moderately satisfactory. Ratings for the Seventh and Eighth Poverty Reduction Support Credits Project for Ghana of were as follows : outcome was moderately unsatisfactory, risk to development outcome was high, Bank performance was moderately unsatisfactory, and Borrower performance was also unsatisfactory. Some of the lessons learned include: Ghana again became a substantially indebted country that must direct a substantial share of its revenues to debt servicing, and it did so within a decade after a major debt relief under the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Debt Initiative. This highlights the importance of prudent macro fiscal management in post-HIPC countries, and emphasizes that the World Bank has to place in its policy lending for helping its clients to preserve borrowing space. Adequate macroeconomic management is a critical precondition of budget support.
